Esselunga visiting Mila

Esselunga is one of Italy’s major food chains of the so called „Big Organized Distribution“. The company operates with a network of more than 150 superstores as well as supermarkets in the Italian regions of Lombardy, Piemonte, Liguria, Veneto, Tuscany, Emilia Romagna and Lazio. The group has its headquarters in Milan and counts 21.000 employees. Recently the Esselunga staff in charge of the fresh counter in the supermarkets of Lombardy and their colleagues from the procurement department were on a visit to our cooperative Mila. The task was to get to know better the more than 17 different Mila cheese varieties available from Mila. It was our cheese master Ludwig Tschurtschenthaler to explain the various cheese specialities and to point out their sensorial properties. At the end of his presentation all guests were endowed to do their own cheese degustation and they enjoyed tasting the different flavour notes of Malga Gardeina, Stelvio DOP, Alta Badia, Ortler, the wine cheese Lagrein and the Pepper Cheese.
Esselunga is a very important Mila customer for yoghurts for many years now. It is now evaluating the possibility to enlarge its assortment with more Mila cheese varieties in addition to those already beloved such as Stelvio DOP and Malga Gardeina.
