Welcome to Mila's Milk Road!

Day by day, 350.000 litres of milk are being processed by our cooperation's plants in the heart of South Tyrol . This adds up to 4,124.000 Mila products a week: Yoghurt, cheese, milk, butter, cream cheese, buttermilk and cream. 

Here you have the chance of getting to know the whole production process - from the alpine pastures and mountains meadows all the way to the shelf.

Quality Control, Pasteurising, Homogenising, Centrifuging
The Control Centre oversees the pasteurisation, homogenisation and centrifuging of the milk.

During the process of centrifugation, the fat is separated out of the skimmed milk and the desired fat content is set.

The homogenisation process renders the milk easier to digest. During pasteurisation, technicians heat the milk to a temperature of between 72º and 75º C for a very short period of time.

This process kills any existing pathogenic microorganisms – however, it does not reduce the nutritional content or affect the taste of the milk.
